Sports
São Sebastião is a large open-air park: the sea, trails and mountains invite sports practice year-round.
With more than 100 km of coastline, dozens of beaches and the Atlantic Forest of the Serra do Mar in the background, the municipality offers ideal conditions for water, sand and trail sports. From surf lessons in Maresias to trail running, stand up paddle on calm rivers and mountain biking with sea views, there are options for all levels and ages.
At Sea and on the Sand
- Surf: Maresias is one of Brazil's most important spots and hosts WSL stages (QS 6000) and the Maresias Shootout, bringing together professional surfers and large swells. Other popular beaches are Camburi, Paúba, Baleia, Juquehy, Brava and Boiçucanga.
- Stand Up Paddle and Kayak: calm rivers and coves allow safe paddling, with schools such as Sports na Praia and marinas in Barra do Una offering rentals and lessons.
- Running and Walking: Many beaches have a firm stretch of sand, great for running, walking, playing football and frescobol by the sea.
- Nautical Sports: Wakeboarding, boat rides and other water sports complete the experience.
On the Trail and in the Mountains
- Trails and Trekking: Between the Rio-Santos and the sea, several trails connect beaches, viewpoints and waterfalls, combining sport and nature.
- Sporting Events: The municipality hosts events such as the XTERRA circuit, with open-water swimming, trail running and triathlon, as well as road races and stages of surf and SUP championships.
