Praia da Enseada is the last beach on the North Coast of São Sebastião, located on the border with the municipality of Caraguatatuba, approximately 12 km from the Historic Center, on the Rio-Santos Highway (SP-055). It is also the first beach seen by those arriving in São Sebastião from Caraguatatuba heading south along the highway. The Enseada neighborhood has varied commerce and good service infrastructure, including supermarkets, restaurants, bars and lodging options. The sea is extremely shallow and the sand is dark and flat, extending between 70 and 150 meters — depending on the tide and time of year — with water at knee depth, without waves and without significant depth. Because of this characteristic, recreational bathing is little practiced, but the beach is intensively used for artisanal shellfish and trawl fishing, kayaking, walking and stand-up paddle (SUP). On the right corner of the beach a natural bay forms where artisanal fishing boats are anchored, creating a simple and genuinely caiçara port landscape. When the winds arrive, however, the scene changes completely. Enseada is the main kitesurfing and windsurfing spot in São Sebastião: the combination of shallow water, regular winds entering through the channel and wide beach space creates exceptional conditions for the sport. Praça do KiteSurf, a permanent facility with parking, restrooms, changing rooms and sand courts, is the gathering point for practitioners and the venue for regional sport events. On the other side of Rio-Santos, a covered sports gym and the Plaza Skate Park Enseada — inaugurated by the City Hall in 2022 with 640 m² of concrete track and an investment of R$ 200 mil — complete the neighborhood's sports hub.
